There’s something truly magical about planning an intimate wedding that feels like a dream—and in this case, set within the hauntingly beautiful stone walls of the Ancient Spanish Monastery in Miami, it was nothing short of unforgettable.
This wedding was for a couple who wanted their love story told through ambiance. To bring that vision to life, the couple deliberately chose rich tones of deep red, dark purple, and black to create a moody, romantic aesthetic that perfectly complemented the historic, gothic feel of the venue. As a result, from the very first moment, the vibe immediately immersed guests.
As they arrive, guests are warmly greeted with a chic welcome cocktail and mocktail drink. Additionally, a custom welcome sign with elegant calligraphy introduced the couple’s vision: darkly romantic, wildly intimate, and unapologetically them.
The ceremony took place in the Monastery’s cloisters, where soft, moody violin music filled the air. Meanwhile, the aisle was lined with dark petals, guiding the way to the altar in an artful, dramatic path. At the heart of the ceremony, a candle-lighting ritual—symbolizing the unity of two souls—took center stage. As a result, the candlelight cast a warm, flickering glow, adding a sacred softness to the moment.
After the ‘I do’s,’ the reception unfolded in a hidden courtyard, which had been transformed into a candlelit haven. Meanwhile, the tables made a statement themselves—red glassware, black plates, and rich red napkins brought depth and boldness to the setting. The florals at this wedding were rich, dramatic, and undeniably romantic. From towering arrangements in matte black urns to lush centerpieces on each table, every design featured a bold mix of deep red roses, plum hydrangeas, dark calla lilies, and cascading amaranthus. These florals didn’t just decorate the space—they set the entire tone for the evening.
One of our favorite details is the dessert bar, which offers an indulgent spread of treats that truly delights guests. In addition, it featured personalized napkins adorned with the couple’s dog, adding a whimsical touch. Altogether, it was the perfect blend of edgy elegance and playful personality.
This wedding at the Ancient Spanish Monastery was a reminder that intimacy doesn’t mean simplicity—it means thoughtfulness. Every detail here was intentional, emotional, and deeply personal.
